Frequently Asked Questions
Is an African safari safe?
Any hunting trip can be hazardous especially when one of the Big Five species is being hunted. The professional hunters/outfitters we use are reputable with many years of hunting experience who take all possible steps to ensure the safety of the clients.
Clients are also reminded that foreign countries do not always offer the conveniences, services, and/or protections, including medical and legal services they may associate with or be accustomed to in their home country.
What weapon should I use?
Some outfitters require a minimum of 7mm or .300 Mag caliber rifle, but it all depends which species you would like to hunt. For a general guideline on species and the appropriate cartridges, read more under rifle information.
Can I do anything other than hunting?
Our office can advise you on numerous activities before or after the hunt. These optional excursions are at the clients own cost. Some outfitters offer additional activities such as game drives, visits to national parks, wing-shooting, shopping, etc. and can be easily scheduled at an extra charge.
What do I need to wear?
Once you have booked a safari with us, you will be sent a tour dossier with a list of items to pack. You can also read more about traveling overseas under Travel Info.
When should I start planning my hunting safari?
We recommend to book as early as possible, preferably a year in advance. However, a safari can be booked later. Remember, that you need to apply or renew your passport, book a flight, update your vaccinations, apply for CITES permits where needed well in advance.
One benefit of early planning is that with most outfitters, your deposit locks in the rates (daily rate/package, not trophy fees) for the scheduled safari. |
